A. Six-side views
Six-side views are front view, back view, left view, right view, top view and bottom view. Six-side views and at least one space diagram are needed to apply for a patent for design. Six-side views shall be in conformity with the rules of projection. Diagrams can be photographs or editable designs made by graphics software such as AutoCAD or Adobe Illustrator.

Points for attention of six-side views

1. Requirement of the photographs
The photographs shall be taken in conformity with the rules of exact projection and avoid distortion caused by perspective.
The background of the photographs shall be plain, and avoid showing other contents except the product incorporating the design. The product and the background shall have appropriate distinction in brightness to show the design clearly. The product in the photographs should not be allowed to indicate generally accompanied with additional inside filling or liner, unless the additional inside filling or liner must be kept in order to show the design clearly. Under the circumstance that the non-claimed contents must be included in order to describe the application and method of the design, then please name it “reference view” and provide us.
The photographs shall avoid strong light, blinking, shadow, reflection, etc.
Notice: The photographs shall be saved in TIFF format. The photographs shall not include texts such as the description of product or the title of photograph and shall be named as corresponding title of the view such as “front view.tif”. Resolution of the photographs shall range from 72pi to 300pi. Width of the photographs should be less than 15cm, while the height should be less than 22cm.

2. Requirement of the drawings made by CAD or AI
Solid lines of even thickness shall be used to show the shape of a design and the lines shall not be too thin. Shadow lines, indicative lines, dotted lines, central lines, size lines, and dot- dash lines shall not be used to show the shape of a design. Two parallel double-dotted lines or natural geosutures can be used to show the omitted part of a long and thin product.

B. Brief explanation
Brief explanation shall include the title of the product incorporating the design, the use of the product incorporating the design, and the essential features of the design. Where protection for colour is sought in a design patent application, it shall be claimed in the brief explanation. Where a view of the product incorporating the design is omitted, the applicant shall generally indicate the reason of the omission of the view, such as a view is omitted because it is symmetrical or identical with another view; if it is hard to indicate the reason, may only indicate the view which is omitted, for example, a large-scale apparatus lacks bottom view, it may be described as “bottom view is omitted”. The draft will be made on the basis of the product information provided and according to the requirements of the Patent Law.

C. Information of the applicant and designer: including the name and address of the applicant and the name of the designer.
D. Power of attorney (will be prepared and sent to you for signature after the confirmation of name of the applicant).
E. Certificate of the priority right (needed when requesting for priority right).
