Lawyer Yang is taking charge of the Domestic Patent Agency Department of Mechanics and Electronics and the Department of Legal Affairs.
Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Yang was a software engineer at Ricoh Imaging Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (a Fortune 500 company), where he was responsible for developing and designing Multi-Function Printers (MFP). He has considerable experience in technical research and development.
Over 16-year practice, he has handled nearly one thousand patent applications for invention, utility model and design in the areas of mechanics, electronics and computers. He has handled dozens of cases of patent re-examination and patent invalidation, and the winning rate is more than 80%. In the cases of patent invalidation, he had been an agent for either petitioners or patentees (respondents).
He has represented clients in dozens of patent litigation cases including patent infringement disputes, administrative proceedings of patent invalidation, software infringement disputes, disputes over patent ownership, disputes over the qualifications of inventors etc. and the winning rate is more than 80%. The related courts in the said litigation cases involve Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Beijing Intellectual Property Court, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court, Ningbo Intermediate People’s Court, Wenzhou Intermediate People’s Court, Luoyang Intermediate People’s Court, Zhejiang High People’s Court, Shanghai High People’s Court, Beijing High People’s Court, The Supreme People’s Court of The People’s Republic of China, etc. Moreover, he has also served as an IP legal counsel for many companies, helping them conduct intra-industry, regional or global patent search and analysis, formulate IP strategies, perform due diligence on major corporate IP transactions, and participate in the whole process of negotiating corporate IP transactions, carry out comprehensive IP trainings for corporate staff and provide one-stop IP services for our clients.
Lawyer Yang not only pays attention to IP practice, but also makes contributions in the academic field. He was involved in proofreading the translation of “US Patent Application Drafting and Prosecution Strategies” which was published in 2017 by Intellectual Property Publishing House.
He had led our team to write the patent and copyright section in the “A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO IN-HOUSE COUNSELS” which was published by Law Press of China in 2019. As one of main team leaders, he had led our team to write “Inventiveness” which was published in 2020 by Intellectual Property Publishing House.
In addition, Mr. Yang has been actively engaged in intellectual property trainings and held nearly one hundred various training lectures and speeches which are well received. In 2019, he was hired as a lecturer in training courses on improving the patent agency capabilities for patent practitioner by Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center. He was also invited to give a series of lectures for the Masters of Laws from Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University ((hereinafter: SICIP) and was given much positive feedback from audience.
